Licensed Attorneys
The attorney members of the association are licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas and are well-qualified and available to represent clients seeking advice and/or representation in all areas of civil litigation, criminal defense, wills and probate, real estate, bankruptcy, family law, juvenile law, and traffic violations.
Association Officers
The elected officers (President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer) volunteer their time to maintain the Association's benefits and community service. The officers are available to answer general questions about the Association, membership and services. However legal advice cannot be secured by contacting the officers unless the officers are privately retained in their capacity as your legal counsel.

If you cannot find representation on a specific legal matter through arrangements with one of our members, the Texas Bar Association has a Lawyer Referral Service. The Texas Bar Association lawyer referral service can be contacted at 1-800-252-9690.
History
Our Association was established over 100 years ago as an organization of local attorneys who met to socialize and exchange information between members and to improve the quality of representation of clients. The group's goal was to uphold the highest standards of the profession while at the same time be a vigorous advocate for each client.
Our Mission
To seek far and speedy resolution of disputes between parties; to improve services to clients. If a lawsuit was filed, the organization's goal is to seek a speedy and fair resolution; to improve the standards of professional conduct; to increase professional skills through regular continuing legal education; and to encourage and promote a better understanding of the legal profession by the public.
Association Structure
The Johnson County Bar Association's organizational year is from January 1 through December 31. The elected officers (President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasury) and members meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 12 noon at the Caddo Street Grill in Cleburne. At the meetings, briefly Bar business is formally conducted, issues important to the local bar are informally discussed in open format, and most meetings include a short MCLE approved presentation. In the past year, the JCBA has sponsored over 12 hours of MCLE approved training for its members in the areas of family law, criminal law, juvenile law, and effective trial tactics.

This year the President is Whitney M. Clotfelter (817-556-6330), the Vice-President is Angela Allen (817-645-6628), and the Secretary/Treasurer is Patricia Stanley (817-).
Community
In 2005, the Johnson County Bar Association established a scholarship to award $500 to a qualified senior high school graduate each year who intends to continue their education in college. Since that time the amount of the scholarship has been increased to $1,000 and renamed the Michael Byrne Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is offered to area schools on a rotating basis. The 2009 Michael Byrne Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a student from Godley High School.

Each year the Association awards the Gene B. Turner Award to a worthy association member who has shown a devoted interest in the law and the cause of justice to have rendered to the public and to the legal profession service of such an unusual nature as to merit special recognition. Attorney Gene B. Turner practiced law in Johnson County for more than fifty years and was well liked and respected by all who knew him.
